Transfer Student- My Chances??

Hi all,
This is my first post on College Confidential. I have a little bit of a strange story. I did really bad in high school and have completely changed around in college. Here are my stats and where i want to play.

H.S. GPA- 2.4ish

Community College(in New Jersey if it matters)-
4.0 GPA through 34 credits
17 credits this semester
Planning to study abroad in the Spring.

E.C.-
Vice President of my schools Democratic Club
President of Business Club
Phi Theta Kappa

Volunteer Work-
Hospital work for the past year
Special Olympics past four years
Numerous political campaigns

SAT- 1900/2400 1200/1600 (Thinking about retaking)

Major- Economics/Business

Applying to for Fall 2010 (In order of choices)
1. UC Berkeley
2. Cornell University
3. Georgetown
4. UCLA
5. University of Virginia
6. Dartmouth (obviously a huge reach)
7. UCSB (safety)
8. UCSD (safety)
9. UPENN (reach)

There are more that I haven't listed. I'm hoping to go for JD/MBA in the future.

What are my chances at these schools? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

hey and welcome to CC.

i can only give you advice for the UC’s. if you are applying as a transfer student, your HS stats do not matter one bit (unless you are transferring over AP credit). Obviously your GPA is solid, but I’m sure you know biz econ is heavily impacted. Make sure you complete all prereq’s.

Also, it does matter that you attend CC in NJ. CA residents get first priority (although this may change in the near future due to our dire financial situation). Take a look at this link…shows the profile of admitted transfers at UCLA…only 46/402 were admitted from out of state.

and here is a more detailed look by major:

Should give you a better idea of your chances.
