So right now I'm attending a college in Minnesota and looking to transfer.
I'm a first year student, and my GPA is a 3.3.
I'm majoring in Journalism/TV Production.
I'm apart of the top journalism program at my college which is very rare for a first year student. I run the main game camera for D1 men's hockey. I have a lot of journalism skills and achievements under my belt.
I'm looking at Mizzou and University of Nebraska- Lincoln.
I would really like some advice as to which journalism schools are the best and what my chances are of getting into them.

I’m a second-semester freshman at Mizzou right now. I love the journalism program here, and I really like the school as a whole. I actually started a College Confidential account because I saw your post and really wanted to encourage you to choose Mizzou!

If you’re interested in television, Mizzou has a phenomenal program. We have an NBC affiliate, so broadcast students get some great experience doing actual news. That won’t happen until you’re in your sequence, but that should only take a couple semesters.

On top of that, there are lots of opportunities to be involved with the student groups whenever you want. MUTV is the student-run TV station on campus, open to anyone, and “The Maneater” and “MOVE” are two other student-run publications.

Our school has a philosophy to teach by doing. That means most of your journalism classes, you aren’t sitting in a classroom being lectured at (though that was kind of what J1100 was). You’re going out, doing interviews and practicing your trade right off the bat, which is a really phenomenal opportunity. Plus, the connections you can make with the extensive alumni network is beneficial when you’re looking for internships or jobs.
