Transfer Student now guaranteed 1 year housing

i think its new this year, in previous year transfers did not get guaranteed housing but not one ear, which is cool

I think it's next year...where did you find that? That'd be awesome if they did this year.

oops i spelled some stuff wrong but yah i'm hoping to transfer there next year in fall 08 or winter 08 and i got a catalog answers for transfer and it says 1 year guaranteed housing

oh in that case, yea they are starting to guarantee a year of housing for transfers starting fall 08...sucks for me cuz i'm transferring this fall haha. good luck! :)

CaliCurls are you dorming or trying to find a place in IV? I can't decide which would be the best course of action to become quickly acquainted to the UCSB life.

I'm going to try to dorm. I think it's an easier way to meet more people. If I don't get into the dorms though, I won't have a problem living in IV. BTW I saw your post in another thread, and i was having a hard time deciding b/t SB and UCI too. SB is the obvious choice in hindsight...perfect balance between social scene and academics :)

clearly the best course is to live in the dorms. Everything in IV is accessible to you from the dorms; it's a 5 minute walk away. But the dorms will give you an RA, programs to help introduce you to the University, floor events and programs to help you meet fellow students, etc. You don't get this in an apartment.

Just my opinion ...

i hear dorm life is fun, especially if your a freshman but after that everyone moves out in apts, but the heard you get no privatcy in dorms?

People tend to move to apartments because they are cheaper and give you more room, also less rules and supervision by RAs. As for privacy, you're not living in a glass cage but you're not isolated either; it's somewhere in the middle.
