I intend on living off campus, however I want to work the least amount I possibly can in order to divert all my time to getting good grades. I want to get into law school, preferably a prestigious one, and in order to do so one must have a high gpa. I was wondering can you/should you take enough in loans to pay your rent? Or what strategies would you suggest?
Agree that grades (and LSATs) are very important to law school admissions. But if you are planning grad school I would try to minimize the loans you take out as an undergraduate student. Look for affordable college options.
The school I am looking at is affordable, but what would you do for housing if you dont intend on having a full time job during school?
The school might be affordable, but is the city? Taking out loans to pay for a 1 br is very different if it’s in NYC/SF/Berkeley/Seattle vs other cities.
Housing costs have to be included as part of the cost of attending college. If housing is unaffordable (and commuting is not a possibility), then the school becomes unaffordable. I don’t think you will be able to get loans to cover off campus rent.
Wouldn’t that depend on how you structured them? For example, federal grants and loans are distributed through the college, and if the college has an estimated cost for off campus housing couldn’t you use it for the housing and then get a private loan for tuition (if necessary?).
