Transfer student, or freshman? What do you think?

Hey guys, I don't know much about Transfer student. I study in National University of Mongolia, and this September my sophomore year begins. Mongolian educational system is 11 years long, including High School, while American is 12. OK, here's the thing. Can I apply for American colleges as a freshman (non-transfer student)? Is it OK that I studied the gap year in other university? Or should I just hide my university year? And you must have noticed that my English is not so good, sorry about that.

I don't have much of an answer to your question because I'm not familiar with your situation, but just one suggestion before anything else: don't hide your university year. The colleges will want to know what you did that year, and very likely you will have to send a transcript from it as well.

If someone else from CC doesn't come along to comment on this with more knowledge of your situation, try asking the appropriate people from your current school, or if that fails, email the universities you are planning on applying to and see what they suggest.

You would be considered a transfer student, I believe, regardless of wether your coursework transfers. This serves in order to evaluate your academic strength, in terms of units, you may be placed as a freshman. It really all varies from institution to institution.

^ I second what Woman.Of.Troy said..

No, you should not hide your college years. As you enrolled in full-time college, you are considered as a transfer applicant.

ok, thx guys, any more?

still waiting for more suggestions...

I do not want to become a transfer student, I just wanna enroll as a freshman. IS IT POSSIBLE?

We aren't sure if it's possible. Don't hide your university year.
