I am transferring to UCI this Winter and I wanted to apply for the EAP study abroad program, but I have a few questions. The country I want to study in is Japan (specifically the Tsukuba year long program) as it pertains to my major, but the GPA requirement for submitting the application is a 3.0. According to my CC unofficial transcript my current GPA is 2.990, but according to the UCI TAG counselor that visited my school I have well over a 3.0 since they don't count the Credit/No Credit courses, CSU only courses, and such that factored into my CC GPA. The deadline for submitting the application is November 14th.

Is it still possible for me to submit my application? I've continuously tried to contact UCI's CIE department but they never responded to any of my emails. I'm considering taking a long drive over them to speak in person, but I wanted to know if anyone can answer my question online first.

i'd venture to say it is possible to submit your application. also eap counselors may sometimes waive the gpa requirement if you can demonstrate proof that you will be able to do well academically abroad.

you should try calling the office, if not then drive down. study abroad through eap is a great experience and you won't want to miss out!

I was able to apply for EAP since they used my transferable GPA and now I'm wondering how competitive it is to accepted into the program for Japan.

The programs for Japan is really really competitive. Like my program through USAC, they only accepted 15 people out of over 30 universities! But when you go to Japan please DO NOT GET DOCOMO!! Docomo sucks and it is the most expensive. I prefer softbank or AU!! well I'm studying in Japan now so hit me up peace!
