Transfer Student Question

Hi ya,
I'm currently a college student on break after getting canned from SCSU because of my low grades due to my deaf and hard of hearing disability and that they didn't help me deal with my disability. Now I am taking a break and going to back to Capitol community college where I have a 2.24 GPA with 24 college credits. when I left SCSU, i had 57.5 credits. I transferred my some what good credits from SCSU and I am waiting to hear from Capitol Community College on what my credits from SCSU will transfer to.

I plan to take summer classes depending upon what credits from SCSU can transfer into Capitol Community College. I am looking to transfer to a couple of colleges such as Qunnipiac University, University of New Haven, Western Conn State univ, Central Conn State Univ, Eastern Conn State Univ, Castleton State College and Uconn.

What I want to know is, what are my chances of getting in to a 4 yr college with a GPA of 2.24. Are their any colleges that will take a transfer disabled student with a GPA 2.24. Also any recommendations on a good Small to medium size college in New England that is close to an Amtrak train station.

More info, I am deaf and hard of hearing. My old university SCSU, tried to accommodate me and on top of that because of my age, I was one of the rare non traditional students as well. The only accommodation I had at my last college was that I was given a bed shaker in my dorm room. Extended test time and notes in class. Though at times Professors were not happy with having a disabled student in their class. They somehow treated me different and not like any other student and as a result I had a hard time at SCSU and because of that my grades suffered to the point i was canned and forced out.

Now I am taking a semester break and transferring my credits back to Capitol community college to finish my associates degree and possibly transfer to either Qunnipiac University, University of New Haven, Western Conn State univ, Central Conn State Univ, Eastern Conn State Univ, Castleton State College and Uconn.

What, no response, what’s wrong with this site

Your best bet is to make an appointment with the Transfer Advisor at CCC. That person will know which colleges and universities students with your projected GPA have been admitted to in recent years. He/she will be able to help you determine whether or not it is to your advantage to spend the time needed at CCC to complete a full associates degree. If there is one in your major field that also has a formal articulation agreement with a 4-year college or university, that might be your best option.

Wishing you much success!

I’m looking at a liberal arts major that can prepare me for Graduate school. Also any suggestion on Small to Medium colleges in New England.
