Hi…can any current Michigan students answer these questions. I am an incoming transfer student from Connecticut.

Are there a lot of out of state students?

Do most transfer students live on or off campus?

Is it hard to find an off campus apartment and a roommate?

Is it hard for transfer students to feel integrated on the campus?

Transfer students do get to live on campus, but mainly in Oxford Housing, Baits or Northwood III (look @ housing.umich.edu) to check those options out.

I don't know much about off campus housing, but it is MUCh easier to meet people in the dorms

4) i dont kno how to answer this in fact i personally can't

Avoid living in Oxford at all costs. The location is horrible, and the buildings are ****. If you're going to live in on-campus housing, try and get into cambridge house in west quad.

If you are living off campus, it's real easy to find a roommate and/or apartment... Just look around online or in the papers.

As for #4, yes and no. When you first get to school, it's a bit intimidating because you likely won't know anyone. But it gets better fast... you'll make friends in classes and in the clubs or organizations you take part in. Eventually it'll feel as if you've been there since a freshman.

Among undergrads, roughly 16,000 (65%) of students are Michigan residents, roughly 7,500 (30%) are US citizens from the remaining 49 states and roughly 1,300 (5%) are international students from over 120 countries.

Hi...everyone, I was assigned to the Northwood III apartments. Is that a good dorm? Does anyone know if other transfer students live or are assigned there?

I'm also transferring in and from what I heard from friends its not exactly ideal. From at least what my friends said, its a lot of older students that are less social. (I'm not speaking from experience here) I set up a contract reassignment to specifically avoid Northwood III.
