Transfer Student Questions

Hello. I have applied to UVA now around four times and each time I have been waitlisted, yet never got off the waitlist. I have applied to the Commerce School and the College of Arts & Sciences. I am an instate community college student and previously when I applied I met all of my Associate of Science requirements, but I had issues with my Accounting that prevented me from getting my Associates of Science until August 2007. I work nearly full time as an IT consultant and attend classes. I have applied with recommendation letters from two professors and my brother is both an undergraduate and graduate alumni of UVA. I applied for spring 2008 admission with an Associate of Science fully completed from a VA community college, cum laude honors, and a 3.5 GPA. I was denied entry for spring 2008 and asked to file for the fall 2008. If I push for fall 2008, I will have applied at least five times to UVA. Is there anyone I can talk to at UVA to find out what it is about me that they don't like?

The VCCS agreement isn't valid in the spring, and you can't enter commerce in the spring. UVA transfer admission is tough, so great candidates don't always make it. They were probably waiting for you to complete your AS. Now that you have, and as long as you meet all of the reqs, you're guaranteed for the Fall. I would call up the transfer admissions dept and try to talk to Dean Greg Roberts, or email him, and ask him a) what you were missing before and b) clarify if you're an auto-admit for the Fall 08.
