Transfer student to UIUC

<p>Hey everybody!</p>

<p>I just created an account and I have a couple of questions regarding UIUC. Firstly, this is simply for curiosity purposes; can you please rank the popular majors at UIUC by difficulty of admission (with average GPA's of incoming freshman and whatnot)? Secondly, I was wondering how much more difficult it is for a transfer student from a community college in Illinois to gain admission at UIUC, or more specifically, the business school that I've heard is awfully difficult to get into as opposed to joining the university straight from high-school. Finally, are certain majors more or less lenient towards accepting transfer students, and if so, then which ones? Your vast knowledge in the world of colleges and universities will be met with my sincerest gratitude! (:</p>

<p>Transfer admission rates have lately been about 13% for the busainess college (freshman admission is close to 40%, the lowest of the colleges), 36% for engineering (closer to 55% as freshman) and about 60% for LAS (about the same as freshman admission). For business the rates do not really vary among majors (and freshman all apply undeclared) Within engineering and LAS actual rates can vary by major; More popular engineering majors such as Comp Sci, Comp E, Electrical E, Mechanical and Aeronautical are often ones with lower rates in Engineering. Chem E, physics and Comp Sci in LAS are also, as they are related to the engineering college; don’t know all the ones impacted in LAS but usually Psych and biology majors are among those with a lower transfer admission rates.</p>
