I intend to enter UW as a Mathematics major and attempt to re-declare as Computer Science after my sophomore year there. If denied I would attempt to enter Medical Administration, Pre-Med, or BS Nursing programs. I would like to continue to continue from CS to postbac schooling in Systems Engineering or Operations Research. If I were to go Medical I would want to get a Surgical PA License or go to Medical School. What do you think my chances are transferring from USNA to UWS?

My main concern is the transfer from an OOS 4-year institution to UWS to a competitive program. I have in-state tuition, but would be worried that they would want people from local community colleges. Will they take the Naval Academy’s strict schedule into account for the lower GPA? Will they take the “prestige” of the Naval Academy name into account? What is your opinion?

My personal statement and a petition for early decision are referenced below.

Any takers? haha

You should definitely point out how the “strict schedule” impacts GPA. Your scores are right in there, but the GPA is hurtin’ for certain.
You are a remarkably good writer, but that essay needs to be reduced in length. At first glance, I’d say cut it by half.

It wouldn’t hurt to contact someone in the UW Veterans Center. Maybe you could find someone there who is knowledgeable both about local color and what they look for in these kinds of transfer applications.

Is there an “early decision” for UW Transfers? For any quarter other than Fall, I think it all happens pretty quick.

The essay and petition for early decision were submitted individually. I requested early decision because they inform transfer students in June and July, and my petition stated why I needed an earlier date. For “an ivy-league level school” (as it is boasted) my GPA is normal (including position on an academic honors list). I thought that I explained the harder academics well by highlighting the varsity sports, required extracurriculars and the fact that I am taking eighteen credit hours.

Everything is already submitted so there is not much I can do. I am just trying to see what some outside opinions are.
