transfer student worried ab adjusting...please help!

Hi!
This is my first time posting on this site! :)
I'm thinking about transferring next Fall from my current university. I'd be going in as a junior. I'm about 45 minutes from my hometown right now, but the school i'll be transferring to is about 4 1/2 hours away.

I'm thinking about transferring because I don't really think I fit in at my current school. Also, the school I'm thinking about going to was my first choice when I originally applied out of high school. I did not get in though and ended up coming to my current school, which was my last choice.

I'm not so worried about adjusting academically, but I am worried about adjusting socially. I don't know anyone at the school I'd be going to and I'm terrified that it's going to be really hard meeting people since everyone seems to have their groups by their junior year of college.

I was just wondering, could anyone on here tell me if it's hard to adjust socially as a transfer student?

Will it be hard to meet people?

It really depends on the school and the size of the transfer class. I transferred with 200 other transfers, so for the first month or so, I always had them to hang out with. I eventually found other friends (non-transfers), and I’ve been able to adjust. Some students are still stuck hanging out with just transfers, but they don’t mind it.

So, I would check to see how many transfers usually enter the school you want to go to. It’s a really good network of people to have when you enter a new school. It will give you that “freshman year” feeling again - when no one knows anyone, so they just hang out with each other.
