hi! i am currently a freshmen at a liberal arts college in maine and i would love to transfer to mcgill. i have several questions.

is the party scene largely based on the city or student parties?

are the people at mcgill smart - do they want to learn?

is it difficult to find housing as a transfer student because i would need to rent an appartment and i wouldnt have any friends yet?

finally, im heading up to montreal for a weekend in december with friends to visit mcgill. can you recommend any local hostels or cool/cheap places to stay? thanks so much!!

definitely based on the city, unless you live in residence, then the parties are inter-rez, floor parties and the like. people hardly go to the student centre bar after frosh week

and it's so true it's scary. try the 6th floor of the science library on a monday morning at 9-30.

housing is all over. there are still free apts advertised everywhere. not a problem. also, a lot of people with high school credits or people who took summer courses graduate a semester early, leaving a lot of vacant apartments come january.

stay at new rez! the 16th floor is amazing, all hotel 0-university residence. it was 90 or something for a double room.

the party scene is based around the city...we party in residence till about 10-11..then we usually go out to a bar or a club...
the residence parties are really lacking to be honest...unless u live on a good floor (like me)..

most people here just wanna have a good time...but they study really hard nonetheless, i am not really sure they want to learn though...its extremely hard to get grades here for sure..as i am finding out..
to be honest i really dont care about learning..i just wanna a high GPA and a good job once i graduate..and most people are sort of like me...

housing u can find very easily...just ask the offcampus housing office
