Hi, I just graduated from High School. I am going to the University of Miami next year. It's free for me because my dad works for the medical school anyways. I was wondering what the process, statistics, chances, etc. was for transferring after freshman year for sophomore year to Columbia University. NYC is where my heart is and I love Columbia so much. I would love to be able to study there for my sophomore year. I am not even sure when the applying for transferring begin. Many say it is easier to get into college by transferring but is that true with Columbia University?

“Many say it is easier to get into college by transferring”

In general, that’s not true. The rate of transfer acceptance is often lower than the rate of freshman admissions. The best thing you can do is excel at Miami and give Columbia a compelling reason why you need to transfer, other than the fact that you like the city. Is there a specific program that you want to pursue that’s only available at Columbia? If not, you might question why you’re trying to transfer in the first place. If all you know about Columbia is that it’s an Ivy League school in New York, that’s not a reason to transfer. But here’s all the information on transferring into the college: [Transfer Admission | Columbia University Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/applications/transfer.php)
