hi there! i am looking to transfer to UMass Amherst in Fall 2016 after completing two years of school at my local college. i just have a few questions about school there, though.
Do transfer students generally make new friends pretty easily?
Do they get to choose the area of campus they are housed in? for instance, i’d be taking most of my classes at the isenberg school of management, would it be easy for me to get housing near it?
What are the stereotypes of the different areas of housing?
Is it hard to find on campus jobs?
How are roommates assigned?
Thank you for your time!!
I am going to be a new transfer there this Fall and I have already made friends at orientation and I already have friends who attend so I’m not too worried about that aspect.
You get to choose your housing but you will most likely end up in Sylvan, which is where the transfer housing is. I lucked and got my first choice so maybe it will happen to you.
There is a website that lists on campus jobs that you can choose from so no it’s not that hard.
I already picked a roommate before they could assign me a random. But basically you fill out this little questionnaire and you are paired with a roommate based on how you answered.
I’m looking to transfer there from a local college in my homestate of Maryland. I’ll post my record when I complete the rest of my credits in May after my Spring 2016 semester. Do you mind giving your stats @fallenwinter
