people waiting on BU too, I was actually admitted to COMM yesterday but haven’t heard back from NEU yet. Do they really require all transfers to make a decision by may 1st? I haven’t even received my decision yet and I’ll be away at school until after that date so I won’t be able to visit! BUs is due June 1st, for me at least.

you can ask for an deadline extension. NEU know that their deadline is before most school even tell their transfers.

what are you all leaning towards- BU (assuming you applied) or NEU??

I cannot get ANY response from NEU concerning any of my questions. I just get transferred around and no one returns my calls/ emails. It’s beyond annoying. But the co-op is really good, so it’s keeping NEU in the running.

@elephant9: I’d contact NEU. Hopefully you get an answer

Just got my financial aid package. They offered me almost $30,000. Pretty good incentive, but I still don’t know if I’ll be able to afford it. Did anyone else get the FA package yet and if so do you feel that it is enough?

alexxxa, I’m currently leaning towards BU. I was admitted to COMM and am interested in their advertising program. At NEU I applied to the school of arts, media, and design for communications, probably would end up in media studies and digital arts or something like that. I like northeastern’s campus and social life a lot more, but it’s hard to turn down such a great program at BU.

@dsterino: the transfer conseulor has yet to return my calls or emails from last week so I have no idea if she’s rude, but she is lazy, thats for sure. I also asked for an academic adviser to help with my scheduling for the next 3 years - just a basic one - but no one will give me the time of day. This is preventing me from accepting the offer, who knows if they’ll continue to ignore my questions. Are you thinking about going to BU? The grade deflation (that I’ve heard about) is a huge turn off, but they seem so much more organized and I always get an answer. My major is neuroscience at NEU & biology at BU (I was accepted last night).

@miami4rmjax: What was your GPA? I had a 3.56 & I got 7500$ achievement award from NEU. But my family is well off, which I think is why I didn’t get more. But I’m still happy with it. Did you apply to BU?

@elephant9: Why do you like the social life at NEU better? When I visited (in January, so I was not out touring that long due to the cold) I got the same social vibe from each, but different campuses.

@dsterino: it says it’s a achievement award, it’s not FA. i just got an email saying my FA was available and i checked the portal (where you found out if you were accepted, it’s right below that). If you didn’t get the email yet, they’re still deciding. I just got my FA and I was accepted like 2 weeks ago.

My major is neuroscience at NEU. What’s your major & are you just going to say at your current university?

Are you from Texas? I’m not staying at my current school either. What year are you?

If you wanted to do Marketing, why did you apply for Political Science? They are in completely different colleges, not to mention the fact that Business is very hard to get into even starting out at Northeastern. You shouldn’t be surprised that it’s difficult.

im a freshmen also. im from southern california, but i grew up in new york so im a used to east coast people and cold weather.
i applied to BU and NEU, got into both. i was going to apply to UT Austin, which is my dream school, but it’s very hard to get in if your not a texas resident boston is cool tho

I got my letter of acceptance today but I’m holding out until maryland and georgia tech inform me of their decisions. Likely attending Northeastern if neither works out which is pretty likely. To be honest, I was surprised at the quick turnover. 3,000+ apps in 10 days?! That’s 300/day! The admissions office must have been trucking every night! Glad I got in though.
For all the people itching for that letter and for those daring enough to consider NEU:

College GPA 3.39
High School GPA 2.93
SAT: 1370 M+CR
2060 M+CR+W
Recommendations: Two, both very positive.
Major: B.S. Computer Science

Remember to send in any positive data even if it’s not required.

Application status changed to accepted today. So relieved. Now just the wait for financial aid…and I’ll have to call them about the deadline. I have two schools waiting for my spring grades for various reasons…May 2nd is incredibly early for a non-refundable deposit.

26 ACT
2.36 HS GPA
4.0 College GPA (freshman)

Man… still nothing.

I submit everything 9 of February, just send the mid term grade 20th of April … and Still nothing…

Does anyone knows when is the last day or week to get your response… because 8 weeks its just too much

Thankssss

Sorry the 20th of March :D

rara 777 I also apply for business transfer. I called them Monday and asked them when i could get the decision. Instead of answering my question , she just said that would depend on rolling basics. I submit all my materials on 27 of February btw . I did not submit the midterm report though because she said that would be ok.
Im dying waiting for results.

Yes thanks guys. But actually they told me the same thing… depends on the rolling basis and 1 week ago they told that I will hear from the 2 week from there… which means 1 weak from no… but I would be like 10 weeks…

I think its too much …just saying…

dsterino

CONGRATZZ!!! It is a good achievement!!!
Just curious how did u find out info about the scholarship? Do they e-mail you?
Thanks

Are they deciding on economics majors with the business majors as well? I know they are in different colleges, so they probably wont.

Economics, as you said, is a completely different college. There is no reason why they’d consider them only when they consider CBA.

Okay. neuchimie you said you go to Northeastern right? Do you have any friends that want to go onto Northeastern’s Law School? What do they have to say about it and is it fairly common for future hopeful NEU law students to make up a good portion of the law school? I was impressed that NEU co-op continues throughout grad school. Huge plus for finding work after completion.

Thanks

alexxxa, i guess what i meant by the social life is just the feeling of being on a traditional campus. My current school is warm weather with a traditional campus so BU is a bigger change than NEU for me. Did you get an award at BU? I did alright with aid but am probably going to try to get more since my current school gave me a 20k scholarship (the reason I’m here)
