So, I sort of assumed that under ideal conditions, a transfer student will graduate in four semesters. For example, in my case, it looks like 42-44 of my credits will transfer to NYU, and these should fulfill all of the general education requirements.

I would like to dual major, and I set up a spreadsheet to map which courses I would need to take. Attending one summer session (for Sight & Sound: Film) and four semesters, if I take the maximum of 18 credits (consider: production classes occupy 6 credits and the courses for my second major occupy 4 credits), I'll be about 4 classes short for my second major. However, I'm also 9-15 credits short of the 128 requirement for a degree. So it seems like it's just not possible to graduate in only four semesters and one summer session.

Is this the case, or am I missing something?

If so, would you guys recommend taking summer courses, or just taking an extra ordinary semester?

Unfortunately, it seems like you’re in an in between situation between having sophomore or junior standing. I’m also a Tisch Film transfer student entering as a junior this fall, but I have 64 credits. Tisch will let me transfer a maximum of 56, but I’m taking the required summer course so I can graduate in four semesters. Tisch requires that over half of your credits are from NYU rather than your previous school.

Would you be entering as a sophomore or as a junior? If you’re not entering as a junior, as your 44 credits would seem to imply, it would seem that you couldn’t graduate in 4 semesters.

Sittle, that seems weird. I’ve taken over 60 credits at my community college, but it says they will only accept 42 with my tentative initial evaluation. Could they end up accepting more?

I’m also taking the required summer course (Sight & Sound: Film) this summer, but even so, I won’t graduate in 4 semesters unless they accept more credits.

I’m not sure what I’m entering as. They haven’t updated my Albert page yet - they’re waiting for my final transcript. But I’m assuming I would be a junior.
