Transfer students!

I got into Rice today as a spring transfer! Waiting on Cornell now - going to have to send in the deposits to Rice though because their deadline is December 2nd.

I would probably (at the moment) choose Cornell if I got into both. Cornell's men's fencing seems much more active and I really want a type of weather other than hot and muggy.

Would you expect Cornell's financial aid to be better than or worse than Rice's (which was quite good I think)

I havn't tried that EEguy. I think thats not such a big deal since a very limited number of fields are editable, maybe I'm wrong...
You applied last year too? where are you applying from?
Is there some kind of forum such as facebook for Cornell's transfers?

Colorful are you going to send the deposit for rice anyway? what happens if you decide to go to Cornell(assuming you get accepted), will they give you your money back?
I was wondering what happens if you get multiple acceptions in an interval larger than 2 weeks?

Nah, it's non refundable - it's not too bad though, $150 deposit.

now thats a serious flaw in the system.

eh, i think Cornell's deposit was $450.

Colorfulpig, congratulations on Rice!! Hope you hear some good news from Cornell as well. I'd pick Cornell over Rice as well ;)

NJCCstudent, as far as I know, I don't think anything is editable in that application, including the name ssn fields etc.

none of it is editable.

is any of it edible?

Are you serious???

yes, i really want to know if the transfer application is delicious and nutritious.

I had to deal with it last year, now it's your turn.

oh man, you are ruthless gomastar. I know I still have plenty of time, but I'm trying to start the essays as early as possible 'cause I know that if I won't, I will procrastinate it to the very last moment.

That's a definitely a good thing to do.

eh, i'm not ruthless ... just daaaaaamn glad i dont have to do it again this year. It's like 'that weekend' when all of your friends are re-taking the SAT, but you scored well on your first try and have no reason to take it again. A good feeling.

And work on the essays for a loooong time. Start early. That's what I did, and it totally paid off in the end. Have others read them, re-read them, and dont be afraid to start over.

Here's a tip: use each individual "essay" to say something different about yourself, and why your major/why cornell. They key is to have the entire application represent yourself as a whole by piecing together each response. Oh, and that "optional" essay at the very end of the application - if you really want to get in, it's not optional. Last year, i answered another one of the essay questions as my optional response.

Good luck! Shoot me any transfer questions you might have.

Damn Gomestar, I REALLY want to go to Cornell so bad. What was your gpa before Cornell again?

3.85 - with dual-enrollment in two colleges, averaged 28 credits per semester.

28...damn dude...you had time to sleep?

and work part time. It's easy at other colleges.

damn...that's insane yo.

Anyone hear back from Cornell yet?!
