Yeah...spring transfers? I'd like to know so I can measure my chances for next fall, though I hear that's easier for spring...

It's early december - we should be finding out soon!

For transfers, do we get the whole fancy online acceptance thing if we get in or do they only notify us by mail?

Hey colorfulpig. Did you send in the check to Rice? I am hesitating (they said I could send it overnight on monday if I wanted) about the $150. Anyway what exactly are you studying? I am also waiting for Cornell so let me know if you here anything.

As for Cornells timing, I called the A&S admissions people this week to find out when decisions were due so that I didnt have to send rice $150. They said that there priority was ED applicants and to expect something in the first or second full week of december. However, I got some mixed signals because she also said that they "hope" to get everything done by christmas. She said that the early december thing is just a guidline for the university, not neccessarily for the college of A&S.

I am planning to do econ wherever I go so....

Yeah, I already sent the $150 in - gets me on the housing list sooner. Studying economics as well.
Priority ED? That sucks - we should be 1st because we'd be moving in in a few weeks from now if we go.

Colotfulpig, about your question regarding notification. When they recieve your Part I of the application they send you a PIN number via e-mail so you could see your app status online. So my guess is that they notify about their decision in that same page as they do for freshmans.

I just found out today that I got accepted for the spring semester for the AEM program by e-mail. I was in the same situation as Colorfulpig, except I called them and asked the admissions counselor to send me the decision as soon as possible via e-mail. By the next day I got an e-mail stating that I had gotten in. If anyone wants to know my previous statistics I would be happy to tell them

cornellacceptee can you post your stats?

Yeah stats would be very helpful.

Sorry for the delay but my stats are as follows:
High school GPA was not great by any means 2.23 or something. Never took the SAT's just the ACT's and I got a 24. In fact my high school career was ridiculously terrible. However, I went to a community College for 3 semester and eaned 41 credits (including this one) and I got all A's in every one of them I was involvoved in the Honors Society (PTK) and took 4 diifferent classes at the honors level (including honors calc which was brutal). I got an unbelievable recomendation from the honors cordinator at tri-c and he basically said I was one of the brightest students he seen in 30 years of teaching. I worked on some of my essays since my senior year in highschool cause I kept reusing them from previous writing assignments and previous college applications, so in other words I spent alot of time on my application. I also got accepted into Case Western Reserve University and universtiyt of miami but I am definately going to Cornell over the spring.
Hope this helped

anyone applying for engineering?

Nope. I'm applying to CALS.

congralution!!! cornellacceptee !!! how did u know the result? from the self-service website or from mail?
im also a spring transfer applicant. i apply for cals. it is so stressful and annoying to wait for the result. i got 3.8 gpa in a communit college with 50+ credit. nothing special on application.....
i am still waiting..... hope can see u in cornell !!

I found out by email because I needed to know by december 15 so they emailed me the results the very next day.

hey guys.. just got in yesterday as a transfer into the spring semester. applied to SHA. found out through email. they said to expect a mailed letter in about 3 business days.

i sent all my stuff in late... hehehe, so i question how they do "rolling admissions"...

i credit my acceptance mainly towards great recs and a good reason for wanting to transfer. i was in honors and had a decent GPA. i also gave them a mid semester report of straight A's. dont know if that helped though. I feel like with SHA they mainly just wanted a reason for transfer. grades and all else seemed secondary.

i hope everyone in this forum gets in.

i log in to self-service website this morning and there is a " Check your decisison" hyperlink. i click on it and see "CONGRATULATION". i cant believe my eyes !!!! is there any spring transfer applicants get good news???
my stat is not really good. gpa 3.86 with 50+credit. transfer from a community college to CALS biology science. i never took SAT. and graduate from Hong Kong high school. nothing really special in application.
Hope other applicant can get good news ~~~~~~~~~~~see u in cornell.

Wow. All these people getting in, really sounds great. li8616, CALS biology with 3.86 and 50+ credits? Hmm...what courses have you taken so far? I've shown improvement throughout my college career, nothing TOO special as far as other things are concerned, but I plan on attending the AMSA national/regional conference...I really wish I get into Cornell. I'm afraid your GPA is much higher than mine.

the major courses i finish so far:
Biology I and II---both A
Chemistry--------A
Preculcalus ------A
Culcalus---------A
Statistic---------A
Economic--------A-
Socialogy--------A
Writing-----------B+
English literature--A-

and other not-so-important courses...

congratulations on the acceptance!!! everybody, make sure you let us know if you got in or not.

Hmm...You took a lot of intro classes but did very well in them. I've taken some higher level classes and I've done fairly well in them, except for maybe one. Congratulations though and thanks for all the information. I have more than 60 credits, I'm not sure which ones Cornell well accept if I get in, but I'm going to apply over winter break. Gomestar, how's it going dude, haven't heard from you in a while. I'm half done with finals, eh, almost drained. Well, time to study, congratulations all and keep on updating when you get your decisions!

CALS has an acceptance rate of around 50%, so it doesn't represent the acceptance rate of the entire school. For example CAS has an acceptance rate of only 18%...
Did someone here was accepted to CAS??? now that will impress me.
