the 50% acceptance rate also includes the "guarenteed transfers" from the freshmen class as accepted. The true acceptance rate for people applying for a spot as a transfer is much lower than 50%. I'm not sure what the actual percentage is.

doesn't "guarenteed transfers" exists also in other schools such as CAS? if so, then in fact the precentage of acceptance is even lower then 18%. I am not trying to reduce from the accomplishment of those who got accepted to CALS. However, you must admit that the difficulty of getting accepted into CALS comparing to CAS or even to Engineering is fairly diffrent. It seems like CALS is more CC friendly than the other schools.

there's no GT for CAS

I wasn't sure about that, but all the rest is true isn't it?

i'm not sure of the true acceptance rate of cals w/o the whole gt thing, but everybody i know who has transfered into cals had at least a 3.7-3.8 from their other colleges. I know a few CAS kids and they all had similar GPA's. I think on average cals admits a little bit higher percentage of students, but you'll still need top accomplishments and grades to be considered for admission.

Gomestar...do you have ballpark transfer figures for ILR?

i think the average gpa is around a 3.7

Well how do midterm grades factor into that GPA average (for ILR)?....since I'm a freshman right now...

Heey anybody here a freshman transfer? I just found out I got in a couple days ago to the School of Hotel Administration (Cornell).

congrats man...

Hi, I applied Hotel school as a transfer student too, and I complete my interview 2 weeks ago.
When did you get the decision from Admissions?

(woman) =)

I got my decision on Wednesday, but they sent me an email telling me the day before. I called on Wednesday to confirm. Also, when I checked online it said I was accepted under the check your admissions decisions link. I'm still waiting on all the admissions materials though. What kind of work experience do you have?

Well...finals are over...time to fill out the transfer app...I wonder how my grades turned out...

Good Luck bullseye!!!
I'm still waiting for engineering applicants to revel themselfs...

Thanks NJCCstudent, you too.

Hey guys n gals, can you help me out?
I have recently been accepted as a Transfer to Cornell, and I have some questions that will help give me a better understanding of the university.

Transfer Housing: I have been hearing different things. I heard that all the Transfers will be housed together, then I heard they will be put in smaller groups spread throughout campus, and that the Transfer's dorm has been torn down. Can you clarify for me please?

I have been admitted as a "nutritional science" student, how much does this actually affect me? Can I switch easily if I realize I like something else?

Is there anything in the residential life at Cornell that lets upperclassman become advisors, like residential/sophomore advisors?

Just curious: how are sports? and school spirit?

Are there a lot of clubs? and easy to join them?

How is the greek life? how much do they affect student life? does a huge percentage join?

thanks a bunch!'
free free to email me cala70@gmail.com

While you're waiting for responses you could do a CC search on the Cornell forum. There are definitely answers to all of your questions. Good luck!

This thread is more than two years old!

Good?

Yes and yes. There are nearly 1,000 clubs.

30% of students go greek.

There is no longer a transfer dorm. Transfers will be housed in groups throughout the west campus system.

You've been admitted to the nutrition department. If you're coming in as a sophomore, it's a little bit easier to change majors. If you're coming in as a junior, it will be difficult.

Yes...you may apply to be an RA. Look out for information sessions regarding this.

I'd say school spirit is good. Make sure you come to a men's hockey game. Men's and Women's Basketball also had an amazing run this year and we Cornellians are very proud of them.

Tons of clubs...for everything. Also very easy to join.

About 1/3 of Cornellians are Greek. Personally...I'm against the system but many have also enjoyed their experience.

Hey everyone thanks for replying! I've taken ManyHookManyHope's advice and have been looking through the Cornell forum, I can't see to do search though b/c it keeps saying I didn't pass the "spamtest" or something. (help?)

But thanks again.
