Transfer students?

Hi there, I applied to Reed as an international transfer and was wondering if there were any other transfers out there? Any news from Reed? Hope to hear from you!

I also applied as a transfer student, no news yet. I was told by mid-may decisions would be sent out. I don’t know about you, but the anticipation is killing me!

Hi ashleyz, I’m glad to know I’m not alone in this… I can’t wait for that letter to arrive, and now that school is over I have no homework to stress over so all I think about is this…

I’m a transfer applicant too, but not international. They said decisions will come out May 15.

I’m also a transfer applicant. Nervous for May 15th!

The weird thing is I was accepted last year as an incoming freshman, but turned down the offer. I regret that decision, so I reapplied. I’m hoping the admission officers give second chances haha.

Hey Booksrule9, why did you turn down the offer? What school did you choose over it?

My neighbors have to think I’m crazy by now with how often I’m checking my mail! Are decisions being sent out the 15th for sure? I was hoping they would be sent out before then, and the 15th is just the latest they would send them. I accepted U of M’s offer due to their May 1st deadline, I’m still holding out for Reed though…

@Askatasuna
I turned down the offer because I had different plans back then. It’s complicated, but I went from a biochemistry major to an English major. Because now I want to be a college professor and need a PhD, Reed seems like the more appropriate fit with its focus on academia and the liberal arts. I also turned down Reed because I’d thought it was too small of a school for me, but now I’ve realized that smaller would be good for me. I chose Seattle University over Reed, which I did because I really liked Seattle University’s focus on social justice. I still do, but my priorities have changed.

So they were all more personal reasons and not anything with the school itself.

@ashleyz, same experience with neighbours here haha, I try to go at odd hours because I feel self-conscious about checking my mail so often  I called the admissions office yesterday and they said they would start mailing letters before May 15th, and we’ll get an email too. Just 4 more days now…

@booksrule9, I’m sorry you had to reject Reed. I just got rejected from Amherst, and it was my top choice along with Reed, so I’m really hoping to get an acceptance letter soon.

Has anyone heard from Reed? We were suppossed to know their decision BY May 15th, and that’s tomorrow…

No word yet.
What do you guys see when you log onto this website? Because my financial aid materials are still listed as “received, not reviewed”…I take that as a bad sign. :/

I see the same message. I suppose they won’t update it until after you receive your acceptance and finaid package…

Anyone hear anything? It’s officially the 15th, totally freaking out.

Nope, just waiting. It’s gonna be such a stressful day waiting, but hopefully the last one…

Wait listed! I’m gonna write a letter of interest and send my latest grades. Should I also send an extra rec. letter? I hope I get a place!!!

I was wait listed also, does anyone know the stats for accepting students off the wait list?

According to the Reed website 954 of the 3131 applicants were admitted. They are admitting 1069 students overall and I’m predicting around 600 students got waitlisted overall so expect a 16% chance of being admitted.

Then again Reed had a poor waitlist acceptance rate last year. Only 9 out of 600 students made the cut so who knows.

@Ballinsince93 thanks for the stats. However, this is the transfer waitlist, which I believe to be different from the regular one. Since freshmen had until May 1st to accept their offer, wait listed students should have already been notified whether they were offered a place or not. They had until May 15th to decide, which is when Transfer letters went out. So at this point, I believe it would be hard to tell how many spaces are left for wait lsited transfers.
