LOL

anyone hear yet? the wait is killing me. I really really want to get into wharton....

nothing yet. Oh well...not like I was expecting anything from them anyway. They are slow.....

I have yet to hear from Penn... but the wait is killing me as well. I did get into Dartmouth just now so that makes the wait a little easier.

Congrats on Dartmouth...thats a huge achievement considering they accept a few transfers. But im getting anxious about Penn as well-- maybe we'll hear by friday.

I got an email saying that they were impressed with the my knowledge of the school, particularly the physics department, and with my application thus far (got the same email from Dartmouth last week) and that they wanted a recommendation from a professor who taught me this semester at UF. I'm taking it as a good sign, because so far I'm one for one with this message.

what do you guys think the chances are of transferring to u penn from a community college (willing to retake sat if needed) i know it's a reach but any advice would help.

nothing is impossible. Chances are hard to gauge. This type of question has been asked by many. But it all comes down to how competitive you are and what you have to offer.

Are your SATs good? What did you get? What is your current GPA? HS GPA? What kind of ECs do you have? Will you get good recs? Are you essays good? These are the basic questions you need to ask yourself. IF you are competitive in all those, you obviously stand a good chance. BUt it all comes down to what you have to offer (as a candidate and as a potential student) and your reason for trasnferring..

NOTE: The longer it has been since HS, the less your HS GPA and SAT will matter.

My application is from a community college.
No idea if I will get in or not, however. <grins>
It's a shot in the dark.</grins>

I'll post if I get in.
Try to demonstrate an extracurricular interest in your prospective major.

anybody hear?

'early May' is passing REALLLY slowly despite exams and all that..

i think the exams do make it go slower..

are your chances of transferring any better if you transfer form a 4 year from a 2 year?

i have heard so.

Myself is a community college transfer to CAS.

Well let's wish us luck...

GIVE ME DECISION NOW!!!

well i nedd to decide. should i go to a non selective 4 year to transfer or a community college. would it matter much?

goto 4 year

u'd get better chance. Community college grades are way way inflated

wat do u mean by inflated?

i think it's generally easier to get an A at a community college.

so admission people might see more weight in 4 year college A.

AFAIK, Penn doesn't actually accept community college credits. so you should just go for 4-year regular admission.
