What does it take to get in as a transfer student? 4.0? 3.0? Does it help to apply to start in a semester other than Fall semester?

I don’t believe applying in fall or spring makes a huge difference. However, for practical reasons, it might be better to apply in the fall (easier orientation, easier time picking classes, etc).

The few transfer students I’ve talked to all say you need about a 3.5 GPA or higher to get in, and taking the required courses that freshman at MSU have to take (a writing course, some science, some ISS, etc) really helps.

Wish I could help more, but that’s all I know.

^^^yep everything romani said. My friend got in with a 3.2 as an engineering major, but a 3.5+ GPA should make acceptance more of a sure thing.

I am planning on transferring as well. A few of my friends that i go to school went say that having a 3.0 will be good but im fighting hard to get a 3.0 I have alot of credits probly total of 40 i am transferring to state. What have other people done to help there application to get in?

ECs and good recs are the only things you can do to supplement a not so stellar GPA.
