I am currently a freshman at Florida State University, but i’m thinking about transferring. After spending a semester at FSU I realized that it’s not the best fit for me and I would like to go to a school closer to my home in New Jersey. Since I originally planned on going away for school, i didn’t look into many colleges close to home. I was wondering if anyone could suggest schools for me to look into that are relatively close to New Jersey? I’m interested in going to a big, well known school with a good psychology/neuroscience program. Prestige isn’t everything, but I don’t want to down grade academically. Although academics are the most important thing to me, I enjoy the campus and spirited atmosphere of FSU and would like to have something similar at whichever school i transfer too. I understand that there’s probably not a school that has exactly what i’m looking for, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any suggestions you may have !!
Not sure how far away from New Jersey/how big you were looking for but maybe take a look at these to start: Rutgers University (Not sure about their psychology program but they are a big school with a similar campus atmosphere as FSU), Colgate University, Williams College, University of Connecticut, University of Maryland, and Amherst College.
Depending on your academic stats, you may also want to take a look at Brown University and Columbia. They are difficult schools to be accepted to but there’s no shame in trying Best of luck!
Big state Us with a lot of spirit near NJ would include U Del, UMD, Penn State, and many of the SUNYs. Did you apply to any of those?
But honestly, Rutgers and TCNJ should be on your short list. They are right there in your own front yard.
