<p>I am Community college student applying to transfer fall 2012. I want to major in Finance and Petroleum Engineering. I know both UT and A&M are very selective so I know I don't have a shot at being accepted directly into these departments. I was wondering if I should apply for them anyways or if I should pick something else then internally transfer? </p>
<p>If I were to apply and get denied would these school allow me to attend as a University/general studies major? </p>
<p>I have a (3.1/3.2)ish GPA with over 30 transferable credits.

Most of my grades are A's and B's - (I have 2 "C's" because i overloaded classes in the summer semester).</p>
