I'm a prospective Tufts transfer student and I just had a some quick questions. What's the theatre program like at Tufts? I won't be a theatre major, but I'm just curious if non-theatre students can participate in the productions. Are there any popular theatre groups/clubs on campus? Are there any improv or singing groups?

Yo. Any questions can be directed my way - I’m currently working on my tenth show at Tufts, and I’m on the executive board of Pen, Paint, and Pretzels, the school’s primary performing arts student group, which puts on a number of student-chosen and student-directed straight plays every year as well as serving as the umbrella organization for nearly all performing arts on campus (it is also the school’s oldest student group - I’m currently helping to organize our 100th anniversary celebration scheduled in March).

Non-drama majors can absolutely participate in theater - I would say that over half the kids in the “theater community” are not drama majors, and most of the drama majors double major in something else.
