Transfer Thread 2006-2007!

im gonna be transferring to HARTT in the fall :) can't wait!

Congratualations - you made a wise move!

harrt hEARTS transfers

Would you all say it's harder for a transfer to get into schools then it is for a first year?

Yes, I would say so because schools only have a limited amount of spots for transfers. Also, more is expected of transfers because they have a year of training. It definately isn't impossible, but it's challenging, esp. with the growing competition.

hartt has taken a lot of musical theatre transfers this year. i know of at least 5. that seems like pretty good odds to me.i think, at hartt, at least, transfers are considered equally with the freshman auditioners.

Hey, I got into UNH, but I'm still waiting to hear from Emerson. Really frustrating that they make you wait for so long, but what can you do? Any other Emerson transfers out there? Have any of you heard?

are you doing MT? because i am about 99% certain that emerson doesn't take MT transfers. Actually, 99.9% positive. maybe that's why you haven't heard???

any transfers hear from tisch yet?

I did.......

i thought transfers couldn't hear from Tisch until after may 1st....am i completely wrong in this??? hmmmmmmm

id love to know now so i can just make sure my deposit for my other school is 100% definite! hehe

were you accepted dramalady?? i am so nervous..does anyone know how many transfers tisch accepts?

still waiting to hear from Tisch! I have no idea how many transfers they accept! i hope to God, SOME!! lol

i was told by an admissions rep that my letter will go out at the end of this week and i'd hear sometime next week!

Fingers crossed for you, VTBroadwayBaby! They do take some. My D has a friend who transferred into Tisch from an Ivy league school. It happens for sure.

Thankfully, you have other acceptances and all is not riding on the line but I wish you good luck if this is the school you wish to attend.

hey sooz! Thanks!! Yeah, im planning on Hartt right now...but getting accepted to NYU would definitely SWAY me! hahaha

i just need more money for school, wherever I end up going!! it's so expensive...! ugh

Congratulations to all the transfers! My d transferred last year and is
very happy with the BFA MT program where she's now a senior. DO be sure to track your transfer credits. She's hoping she can graduate "on time," but it will require summer classes and some real juggling (and luck) to get the final courses she needs next year. For most of us, an extra term (or year) is not a financially desirable option. Advisors are a great resource (I'm one myself), but they do not necessarily have the time (or, in some cases, willingness) to research all possible class scheduling options for you. I strongly recommend becoming intimately acquainted with the program's requirements and get all your transfer credits (and what they count for) officially approved (in writing). It also helps to be proactive in visiting your advisor and come prepared with questions and an outline of your proposed schedule. That way, you can make the best use of their time and expertise. Best wishes to you all in your new ventures!...
