I’m transferring from a community college from L.A. around 3.3 GPA for Finance(Business Major).
@tommygrangel how long was it before you heard back? I just applied on 3.1
@katandcharlie56 I applied around October when I was doing my UC application, I started calling and emailing them about admission result since December and got in around February, I would say call them middle April. you should expect something around there.
Hey guys! I applied for Fall 2017 for their nursing program. I submitted on February 28th. Did any of receive a white medium size packet from USF with just a brochure of the school? I got that today
Hi! I applied to their nursing program for Fall 2017 as well and got the same brochure you did. Best of luck and hopefully we hear back soon!
@Klow7 Yes I did receive couple of them, you should be expecting a decision soon! 8-}
@tommygrangel Thanks for the info, and congrats to you! What are you majoring in?? I am hopefully transferring from community college in Fresno.
Hi @danib123 ! It seems like we are in the same boat, If you don’t mind me asking, did you apply anywhere else? I am in my sophomore year of college and I have applied to two private schools: USF and soon NYU. If I do not go there, I am hoping to apply to Fresno State’s nursing program!
Hello @klow7! I have applied to SJSU and Channel Islands as well! USF is my top choice, so I really do hope I get in!
I applied using common app and it said there that they’ll start sending letters mid-march. But I also read that Nursing majors who applied will be the last ones to know… Do you know if we get the results before the end of April at least?
@danib123 Thats awesome! The best of luck to you.
I read up on that info on common app as well! But i did hear that the decisions are rolling so give or take a few weeks we should hear back. I did some research and I’m hearing that we should hear within the first or two weeks of April! If you go on USF’s tumblr page http://askdons.■■■■■■■■■■ they have a lot of FAQ that helped me
@Klow7 Thank you so much! Hopefully we get the results before April!
Best of luck to you all!
Congrats to everyone who got accepted!!
To those of you who have not received a response yet, would you mind listing your stats and major? I think it would be helpful to myself and others to feel a little reassurance around this nerve-wrecking period.
Stats & status:
International student; international business major (insert irony here) -
Transferring as a junior from an LA district CC
Current GPA: 2.9 (hopefully a 3.2 by the time i’m done with this semester)
Note: to anyone with a GPA lower than a 3.0, such as myself; do not feel discouraged! USF takes a holistic approach with their acceptance decisions, they base your acceptance off of other factors around your personality and interests; and not on your GPA alone. It’s genuinely my top choice, I really do hope I get in - good luck everyone!
Hi @Abindekhayel! I applied as a Nursing major and currently have a 2.9 GPA due to the fact that I am retaking other major classes. Hopefully by the end of the semester that’ll bring my GPA up. Also, by the end of spring semester, I’m going to have an AA for liberal arts which doesn’t really do much and have finished over 60 transferable units. I don’t know if they’ll take that into consideration because I know you can transfer with just having to finish 24-30 units. I have also mentioned on my essay that both of my parents graduated Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, so hopefully it will help as well. I graduated high school when I was 16 years old in the Philippines and am in my 3rd year attending Cuesta College!
Best of luck to everyone!!
Hi @Abindekhayel and @danib123 !
I too am applying as a nursing major, but my original plan was never to apply to a private school. With financial aid and everything it is still very expensive so I’m definitely keeping USF as an option for now.
I am transferring from Fresno/Clovis CC and in my second year
Current GPA: 3.89
Will have 62 units by the time I transfer out
and yes! I too heard that the way they make decisions on applications is very open and not dependent on one factor. hopefully we all get accepted!
@danib123 Hey! that’s really awesome, I think your diversity in class choices really stands out during application processing, fingers crossed. @Klow7 That’s incredible!!! truly, I applaud you. They’ll definitely accept you and most likely offer you a stellar bump with financial aid - I read somewhere that they use a certain method when students who are admitted struggle with their educational finances. I’ll keep an eye out for you guys during orientation (slightly creepy optimism works wonders)
I just checked the USF admission’s Instagram account and it looks like they started to send letters today!!!
I GOT MY ACCEPTANCE TODAY!!! I hope you guys get in as well!
Congratulations @Abindekhayel!!!
