Transfer thread

nikki-
if UCF honors grade forgiveness (like my school does), then they accept it on your transcript.

don’t worry about it. she’ll be fine.

…:)

Sophiegirl,

Are you still waiting on an acceptance for your transfer to FSU? My daughter is also, any idea when the decision for transfers should be made by?

Yes. They said after I send my transcript in August, I will get my decision.
It takes 4-6 wks.
I assume she has completed her CLAST? 2.5+ avg. on two math courses, 2.5+ avg. for two english courses, or a satisfactory score on the SAT.

Nikki, I really wouldn’t worry about it. She will most likely get in. The AA really helps you. Just make sure she has all her prereqs completed for her major. Is her major limited access? Has she completed 2 prep courses for her major? Generally that’s how many you need. Some you don’t need any (sociology), but I am taking 2 anyways
Check out the department website for her major, and the undergrad bulletin for her major.

Nikki, any news?

I’m going absolutely insane over here… I’m a community college transfer for Spring 2010 and my application has been put on hold because they need my CLAST scores. Well, I sent them my SAT scores from 2006, and they uploaded them to my application. Both of my math and critical reading scores are above 500, so my CLAST should be exempted, but it’s still showing my CLAST sections as “Not Satisfied”. Driving me CRAZY. This wait is killing me because I don’t want to be stuck with a crappy residence hall due to late acceptance.

That’s what is happening w/ me, except my SAT scores suck (I got an 1100). I didn’t satisfy the CLAST math portion.
So I’m on hold until I send them my summer transcript w/ completed math courses, and then they are going to transfer my app to the college of SS.

Call them!

You know they should just accept people CONTINGENT upon it. Schools like UCF accept you if you haven’t satisfied it, but by the time of completion of your AA you have to have satisfied it. Your app will be rescinded if you haven’t. I am kinda ****ed b/c I never thought about getting a crappy dorm… and it looks like they won’t get all the materials until LATE Aug. Thus it seems like I won’t get officially accepted til’ Nov… I might not get into some classes, and I will probably get a cruddy dorm.

I spoke to an admissions officer today over the phone, and he said that my CLAST requirement has been exempted with my SAT scores, and that it just takes the system a few days to update with the new information. So, it looks like it’s just a matter of a week or two! Good luck, sophiegirl.

yay! well they’ve got to forward your info to the college, and if the college admits you, you’re good to go. so you’re probably an in. what college is this? IE: what major?

lol yeah. just depends upon me passing this math class i’m taking now, which is going to happen. it’s an online course through a local community college (florida state college).
i was a couple points from satisfying the CLAST with the SAT!
so once i finish this course with above a C i will be accepted=)

Sounds good. I’m doing an English Literature major, which has no special requirements.

Mine is sociology.
You don’t need ANY prereqs, but I’m taking 2 sociology courses as prep, and I’ve got above a 2.0. So I should be fine. Plus I went to The COSS and talked to them.

I’m still frazzled about the housing. >:o

Are your parents making you stay in a dorm like mine? I rlly don’t want a communal bathroom.

My parents aren’t really involved in the process, aside from helping financially. I am choosing to live in a residence hall for at least my first semester. FSU has residence halls (suite-style) that don’t have communal bathrooms.

For our daughters on-campus is much easier than off-campus.

What year are your daughters?

I’m just scared that all the suite style rooms will be taken. Seeing as a lot of freshman have signed 2 semester contracts. Now students are actually getting their assignments and I’m behind by months. I won’t get to do the housing stuff til’ September.
I had bad roommates fman yr. - so It’d be ideal to have a double suite.

My transfer application page was just updated, and I got in! I’m completely elated. What an excellent start to my week.

^Congratulations!

D1 is now a grad student, married and living off campus. D2 lives in a single in McCollum Hall.

D1 started out in Gilchrist then moved to Ragans then off campus. D2 started out in Reynolds then to Ragans and finally to McCollum.

Hey Hurley. How’s it going with the housing? : )

I’m actually looked at The Players Club apartments as opposed to on-campus housing… It comes out to something like $2,300 cheaper annually.

Hurley, how long did it take them to get back to you with a response? I also applied as a transfer to the English program at FSU.
