Transfer Thread

Any transfers heard back yet? If so, would you mind sharing where you are transfering from, your stats, why smith, and why you think you were admitted (I know that can be a tricky question to answer!)?

Me! :D

Transferring from: University of Nebraska-Omaha
Stats: Can be found in this post - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/smith-college/818084-chance-aspiring-transfer.html</a>
Why Smith: I like the open curriculum, the study abroad opportunities, Praxis, the housing system, and loads of other things about it. I also already know several people there, so it’s nice to have a little bit of a built-in social network already.
Why I was admitted: Who knows, in the end? But it can’t have hurt that I have a pretty good academic record and displayed interest in the school via my supplemental essay, visiting, interviewing, etc.

When do you expect to hear back, locke2012?

Congrats!! I just sent in my application a week or so ago because I decided to apply as a transfer at the last minute… So, I am not sure when I will hear back but hopefully early June! Have you decided if you are going to attend?

Also, what is Praxis? I was reading a bit about it on the website but I didn’t quite understand what it was all about.

Praxis - a $2000 stipend that can be used to fund an otherwise unpaid internship after the sophomore or junior years. It’s available to everyone - you don’t compete against other students for it (but not every student chooses to use it).

Ah! Good luck. :D

And yes, I will be attending!

I’ll be attending too!

My daughter has paid her transfer deposit to Smith.

Congratulations to all you transfer students! You have many wonderful and challenging experiences to look forward to!

i have sent my deposit too

Wenzheng, congratulations! Glad to hear about so many transfer students.
