Transfer to a UC in one year?

I'm a senior in high school, I am thinking of transferring to a UC in a year if I decide not to go through with transferring to Cal. Do you think it is possible to transfer to a school like UCSB or UCD in a year? I already will have 15 credits by the end of Spring Semester. Is it a good idea to go this route? I am just trying to consider my options for next year. Thank you!

Yes, transferring in one year is completely possible and a very wise decision as long as you don’t mind working your butt off for a year. You’ll save quite a big of time and money going this route.

Start taking classes at your local community college this upcoming summer.

If you’ve already decided on your major, plan out which courses you will take at your community college from now until the time you transfer. You will need to satisfy the pre requisites for your intended major, the general education requirements (IGETC), and complete 60 (or more) semester units before you transfer to your university of choice.

If I decide to transfer in a year, and get accepted, does this mean I only actually attend college in 3 years instead of 4?

Yes, it does.

I’m transferring in one year. I have 11 APs so I had to take a 19 unit semester and next semester will be a 20 unit one.

The only problem I’ve had with this route is that the one B I got in my first semester (the only semester the UCs get to see) brought my GPA down to a 3.74

So you have no room for error if you want a really strong GPA.

I’m sure university admissions committees will take into account that you completed all your course work in one year and be a little more forgiving if you have a slightly lower GPA than average. I could be wrong, though.

it’s possible . . . we hope!!
here’s the thread for the rest of us who are trying
