I would like to move my current math class with a different professor in a different time period. The problem is the class is full and the department won't let me transfer without a "good reason." I told them I couldn't wake up that early and then I said the other professor is a better instructor (along the lines of that), but that wasn't good enough for them. Is there any other way I could transfer to a full math class?

Sorry, but of course not. The first argument is absolutely not acceptable. The second one… they wouldn’t say it’s a valid argument either. It’s sort of giving an impression of them favoring one prof over the other. IMHO. No offense…

yeah usually 1.) the class is required and you have to take it that semester and 2.) you have a scheduling conflict with another required class or 3.) you know the professor and he will let you take the class

you can’t just switch out of a class into one that’s full just b/c you like the time and the prof better. that’s totally ridiculous. if that’s the best you could come up with, it’s prob not going to happen.

now, if you have medical documentation that you can’t take classes that early, that’s something else entirely. but i doubt that’s the case, and even if it is, be prepared to jump through major hoops.

otherwise, have fun in that morning class :)

if it’s a large class (math 1910 - 2940) and you just need to change your lecture, you can always show up to the other lecture and stay in your discussion.

If it’s in arts then I have no idea how the classes are structured.
