I am a current freshman at University of South Carolina and I am thinking about transferring to Auburn. I am from Pennsylvania, but i am very conservative. At USC “Yankees” are somewhat looked down upon, especially in frats. I wanted to know what Auburn is like. Is it a party school or bar school? Are there parties easy to find? Could I get into the honors college or scholarships? Are northerners looked down on? etc… anything about Auburn would be great to know!

Auburn is a fantastic school with a great campus personality - very friendly students. It is not a party school and there are not that many bars close by campus - you may wish to look at UGA if that is important to you. I believe you can get into Honors College at anytime you have the stats / grades - requirements are listed on their website. You will not get any freshman scholarships - possibly departmental scholarships if you have outstanding stats (but not even sure they’ll offer that to a transfer) or third party scholarships. I’ve never heard of anyone looking down on anyone not from the area - even those from Atlanta are hardly “southern” - many moved south when mom/dad transferred from somewhere else in the country so you will hear accents from all over. My son said most of the students are pretty serious about their studies and play appropriately. Great football!
