Transfer to Bates chances?

<p>HS: All-Conference in Cross-Country, Team State Champions in X-C Skiing, Top 5 state finishes in all sports (Cross-Country, X-C Skiing, Outdoor Track,) Mentor to Underclassmen, National Honors Society.
College: Dean's list, Nominated for leadership program, ran Varsity Cross-Country (team was Conference Champions.)</p>

Philosophy - A
Statistics - A
Intro to Literature - A-
Foundations of Education - A-
Human Behavior in Perspective - B+</p>

<p>2nd semester Taking: Psych of Learning, Art Appreciation, Critical Writing (200 level class, tested out of WTNG 100,) Speech & Communication, History & the Modern World.</p>

<p>I read the Bates website and it said that they "generally looked for 3.5+ GPA for transfers" but do you think they would think of me differently because I'm a freshman?</p>

<p>Also looking at: Bowdoin, Brandeis, Northeastern, Lafayette, Hamilton, Conn., Union.</p>

<p>I think you have a good chance at Northeastern. I don’t know anything about the other schools so I can’t chance them. You would have a better chance at all schools involved if you had the same gpa but were a junior transfer so waiting a year might be the best idea if you aren’t accepted at your school of choice.</p>

<p>I would make sure your classes are the best you can take. For example, Art Appreciation doesn’t sound so challenging.</p>

<p>Art Appreciation (Aesthetics) is a core class…so I have to get it out of the way. But yeah, I’ll see if I can add another one in there. Thanks!</p>
