So I'm a CA resident and an incoming Freshman at a CC, and I really want to transfer to Berkeley. I'm looking to go into Political Science. After two years, I'll be at 67 credits and fulfill my transfer requirements. The catch, I never took the SAT/ACT in high school. Should I take it or does it not matter because I'll be transferring? Also, I didn't do well in high school at all, but plan to do everything in my power to get 3.5+. What would be my chances of getting in? I know it's vague, but anything would really help. Thanks in advance. P.S. Don't know if this helps, but I will be involved with student gov't. at my CC.

As a transfer, UCB won’t care about sats or acts or your highschool performance in general.

Poly sci is a competitive major at UCB so you will want to be closer to the 4.0 spectrum not 3.5

I was recently admitted to Berkeley as a Political Science major. You don’t need to worry about your high school grades or ACT/SAT scores because they will take your college classes and performance into account.

When you apply to Berkeley, you’ll actually be applying to the Social Sciences department of the College of Letters and Sciences. It has a low 20% acceptance rate so I strongly encourage you to have a high GPA and get some extracurriculars because many highly qualified applicants still get rejected to Cal.

If you have any questions about transferring to Cal, specifically to the Political Science major, feel free to send me a message.
