Transfer to big name B-schools

What's up everyone. I just wanted to get your opinion on where I stand in regards to these schools (Safeties not included).

NYU Stern
UC-Berkeley Haas
University of Virginia McIntire
USC Marshall
Georgetown
Upenn Wharton (just for kicks)

SCHOOL: CC in New Jersey
MAJOR: Business Admin. (Probably going to double major in Finance and CS upon transferring)
GPA: 3.90- (Upward trend)
AWARDS: Only Deans List
EC's(Thumbs down): Have had a steady job for the last 4 years
President of biology club
PTK
Member of schools math club
TEACHER REC's: Should be very good
PERSONAL STATEMENTS AND ESSAYS: I'm a decent writer, so these should be solid.

If you need any further info, feel free to ask. Thanks!

What is your high school GPA and ACT/SAT score?

They’re not so good; I finished with 3.0-3.1 gpa and scored 1730/2400. Will this look bad even though I’ve been out of high school for over 2 years?

good chance dan. I dont think they look at your hs stuff if you have more than 50+ or so. How many do you have? Just keep those GPA high and you should be in one of those.
Which cc in NJ do you attend, if u dont mind me asking?
I am planning to transfer to 4 yr and Im in CC NJ as well.

As of now i have 56 credits. And I’m at bergen community

Some of the schools listed will require a HS transcript and your SAT scores. However, they will have little bearing on your chances if you have 56 credits. Good luck!

I suggest not applying to Haas. First off, you are not a California resident. The UC system places priority on in-state residents. Secondly, you most likely have not completed the required prerequisites which will result in automatic rejection.

You can apply but the chances of admissions are very low. I would rather save the application fee and time and use it on another prospective school. Best of luck.

^The same can be said for McIntire. Virginia gives priority to local CC students, making it very difficult for out-of-state transfers (unless you’re currently at a top 30 school). I’d say your best chances are Marshall and McDonough (apologies for spelling).

@ChicagoBears1

Good point. I had a feeling McIntire was public but I am not familiar with their policies so I did not want to comment. But your point is valid. OP should take notice.

With 56 credits and a 3.90 GPA, I think you have a very good chance at all of those schools (Wharton and Haas maybe not so much just because everyone applying has that GPA).

I’m sure you’ll get in to most of them. Best of luck.

Thanks for the replies everyone! What about Stern(first choice)? I’ve taken up to calcIII, and I heard they like upper level math courses. Will this help?

Stern has strict prerequisites for junior transfers as well… have you completed those courses?
