Transfer to Cambridge from U.S.?

Is it possible to transfer to Cambridge from the U.S. or do you just apply for freshmen standing? I emailed their admissions and havent't from them yet so anyone know? If they do take transfers how much weight is given to performance in h.s.?

no, you can't transfer. you have to start from year 1, although most programs are three years--so you can technically "transfer" after your first year in an american college,if you want to finish in four years.

is the application process the same for that? Do I apply as a freshmen? or do they look at my college record instead?

It is impossible to transfer to Cambridge, MA.

where do you study now? because they have some very cool exchange programs with some top school's top departments..

i know i can't "transfer" but if I go to another college do I apply as a freshmen? and if i do do they look at my college stats or my hs stats?

matth: im still a senior in hs going to Clarkson University

No you have to start over. My advice if you want to increase your chances is not to go to college at all now. Go to an overseas boarding school for a year, and take some IB classes. If you do well you will have a shot there, and other high profile UK universities.

They'll look at your test scores (IB,AP,SAT, etc.) more than your grades from college or high school. You'll need to have VERY high test score to be competitive though. They typically want to see mostly 5's on AP exams.

does cambridge have the same special entrance exams that oxford has? if so, its a whole complex process that you really need to investigate before you decide what to do for the next year

You either apply as a 'freshman' (this word means nothing in the UK BTW) or you complete a degree in the US and you can apply to do a second BA, in which case you skip the first year. The latter is pretty rare though. Most US students (not that there are many undergrads though. About 700 grad students) do exactly what you are proposing. Complete a year of a US college then enter the UK system in year 1.

I suppose Brits say Fresher instead of Freshman or maybe it is just for couple of weeks just like the way we do... They just choose call students first-year, second-year, third-year etc...which is boring in my opinion...lol

so I have to start from year 1, but if I apply do they look at my college grades or my h.s. grades?

why you want to go to cam?

because its a beastly college, anyway do they look at my college transcript or h.s transcript?

I kind of think that should look at both. Try calling the admissions office and ask what they say and let us know how it goes. Good luck!
