okay i got rejected to CSULB so CC it is for me :) but it's so impact I'm not sure how long it will take me to transfer. I'm going for film production and understand that you need a 2 minute video about myself. I've got an idea but I have ~2years to prepare. I have a couple questions about transfers (I would appreciate it if people who applied, are in the school (freshman or transfer) graduate, etc.
I looked up collegeboard and it said minimum credits is 15? Well I'm going to aim for 30. But it means I have to send my HS transcript? Or should I work for 60 credits so they won't take my HS transcript? I did pretty badly in my HS (frosh/soph) had 2 D's. Didn't do EC or anything whatsoever. I kept myself low-key working at home with editing and all that stuff. So if I do need to send my HS transcript would that be part of the decision factor? Also do I need to have an interview (I'm just following what collegeboard says).
What classes do I take? I'm going to try and take GE courses but if available, should I take film courses like Intro to blah blah blah? And how long will it take for me to transfer if I get 3-4 classes a semester trying to go for 30 credits? How about 60?

If you want to go to Chapman/Dodge Film here is what we were told. My son blazed out his 60 units at CC. Met with an admissions counselor and he said his transcripts impressive because he had his IGETC (60 transferrable completed - 3.85 gpa). He said they are getting way more strict and they take those transfer students first. FYI- They still want your high school transcript anyways!!! They just want to see you were not some destructive type crazy high schooler.
Important… only take transferrable courses and get math out of the way first. You cannot transfer in if math is not completed by spring. Cant take the summer just before either. Definately helps to take film classes and try to get experience/volunteer/intern somewhere industry related. My son volunteered his time at his churches media dept. So, blaze out your 60 units and keep your gpa as high as possible. Join honor society if you can. Costs 80.00 but you dont have to go to meetings. The dean will note on your transcripts you are a member so it looks good. Meet with your counselor at cc to put you on the Chapman track and keep checking in to make sure the track has not changed without you knowing. Film production is tough getting into there… not gonna lie. Creative Producing would be a great 2nd major there and is at least getting you in the field you want. I would definately take a tour at Dodge. It made my son want it more and you can feel more inspired seeing the goal. Also, make an appointment with a Chapman advisor and they can give you a map of what classes they recognize for the major. Hope this helps and good luck!
