transfer to claremont mckeena college

soo ive fallen in love with this place and am applying to transfer. What are my chances? HS gpa was not tht great a bit over 3.0 but i stepped up my game at the cc im at now with about a 3.5. They dont require SAT's for community college transfers. Im on the vice presidents honor list now and apart of the honors society. Do i even have a chance? thanks

CMC admissions is not just about gpa like it might be for the UCs. You’re extracurricular activities/outside of school activities(work, intenrships etc) must be significant in addition to your gpa. Back when I applied, as a transfer, a competitive GPA would be a 3.6 for them, however that’s just one part of your application, not every part.

Besides academic stuff… I have a part time job, volunteer at the senior center often, tutoring… Stuff like that. On there website it recommends that an applicant atleast have a 3.3 college gpa. Did u get in? If so I’m finishing my supplement and am kinda shaky on the analyitcal one. Do u think they tend to care more about how u structure and organize your thoughts or on the person you write on? Thnx!

how you structure and organize your thoughts.
i’m sure there are popular choices(on the person) and I doubt the college automatically gives you points for choosing obvious ones like “obama” or “clinton” or “mlk jr” etc.
I didn’t get in. I think it was a combination of my gpa(overall-depending on what schools they took into consideration I believe my transfer gpa was somewhere in the 3.3-3.6 range), poor essays(I admit), and the overall fit I wasn’t o the community. (Speaking about fit, one could categorize me more as someone who probably would have fit better at Pitzer/Pomona than CMC) CMC is very specific with their fit.

You don’t think writing about Santa Claus is too bold? It says fictional or non-fictional…and i really think that he has had a huge part in shaping thought and culture. Thanx youve been great. i got my one of my letter of recs today and i think my professor did an amazing job. Do letters have any impact on the process?
