I know it is really hard to get into Clark school of engineering, but I just wanted to know where I stand. Currently I have 3.7+ GPA at CC, and hopefully when I graduate this fall with AA degree in Mechanical Engineering, I will have at least 3.6+ Unfortunately, I don't have any great EC's, which I am sure will be a setback. So, is there anything I can do to boost my chances (other than being in-state and write a good essay) to get into the engineering school at UMCP as a transfer?

At this point in your career, I think your lack of “great” ECs or past SAT/ACT scores will have a minimal to non-influential effect on your transfer chances to the UMCP Clark School of Engineering. It might be a different story if you were trying to transfer into an non-engineering /science field (business, internationsl affairs, etc) but your current 3.7+ GPA, if in engineering/math related courses, should put you in fine shape

It really is gpa based admissions. They won’t read your easay or rec letters. They look at your overall gpa, rank it against others in pool and check to make sure you haven’t repeated a gateway more than once. That said, I got in with a 2.74 :-P

It is honestly not that difficult to transfer into the college. After three semesters my friends had gotten C’s with some B’s sprinkled in in math classes and had a GPA a good bit below a 3.0. He was able to get into the school as well as the other people I know who applied without superb grades.
