Transfer to Cornell Spring 2014

Hello, I was just wondering what my chances are?
I plan to transfer to CAS(English major) - i know this is the hardest school to transfer into. :(
I am a freshman in a Jesuit Private University and plan to transfer for the 2014 Spring semester.
My GPA: 3.93/4.0
My SATs aren't so great so I am retaking them in May. (1630 total)
Extra Curricular/Volunteer Work: Volunteer high school track coach. Volunteer within the school(campus ministry, sociology, etc) 100+ volunteer hours. Part of my college's track & field/cross country team. Two Jobs: Work study in the athletic department and I work for "Intercruises". A part of the 'National Honor's Society'.
I plan on joining a club once spring break is over to up my extra curricular because i know this is important.
I also know essays are, in a way, 'make it or break it' when applying to Cornell. I feel the essay portion of the app. will be my strong point.
Any advice on other activites i can take part in in order to get accepted?

Hey all! My stats are below. Let me know what you think my chances are for being accepted as a spring transfer. My current university, University of Denver, doesn’t offer a degree in Middle Eastern Studies or Arabic.

H.S. GPA: 3.9/4.0
ACT: 27 (not great, I know)
Current GPA: 3.85/4.0 (on a A, B, C scale–not A, A-, etc)
Letters of Rec: Director at the Embassy of Jordan (just finishing an internship there this summer), Director of the undergrad program for int’l studies at DU, and my writing prof
EC: Student editor for undergrad research publication at DU, various clubs, volunteer at refugee center, internship at the Embassy of Jordan, etc

I’ve taken a pretty strong workload too.

Let me know what you all think. Thanks…and goodluck to everyone!

@wowme- provided you get your SAT up and your essays are as good as you say they are, I think you’d have a decent shot. The only thing you could probably do would be to get closer to one of your english professors and get them to write you a really good letter of recommendation. And make sure you have a better reason for transferring than ‘Cornell is more prestigious’ or something like that.

The rest of you- get your own thread. This is rude.
