Transfer to CSU - Confused

Hey Guys,

I've been getting mixed answers and I just want to clarify once and for all: Do W's on your transcripts (from a community college AND a University) in general ed. courses affect your undergraduate admissions as a transfer student to a Cal State school like Fullerton?

I have a 3.91 GPA with about 7 W's from UNLV and about 15 more from my community college. Working full time and being married caused this. Will these W's prevent me from getting into CSUF?

I was told by one transfer center (CSUDH) that CSUF crosses W's off but then I was told by the CSUF transfer center that they do not ignore W's from a university and that they treat these like F's. Everyone else seems to think W's do not matter...which statement is true? Do CSU's really count W's from other Universities as F's?

My CC counselors are unable to give me a straight answer (big surprise right) so one of my last hopes is you all.

Thanks for the help.

As far as UC's are concerned, W's DO NOT matter. There is someone on the UC board who got into UCLA with something crazy like 20 W's.

So I'm guessing that CSUs have a similar policy. Keep in mind though that you were told that they don't ignore W's from UNIVERSITIES. I am referring to California Community College W's. Why ask CSUDH? Ask CSUF - their answer should be the one that matters.

Well there's a recruiter at CSUDH who's really easy to talk to and seems very knowledgeable about the CSU system as a whole. The CSUF transfer center person I spoke with however is actually a student so even though she's associated with CSUF, I'm not sure how reliable her information really is.

You're right about finding out from CSUF. I've tried every phone number I can get ahold of but no one seems to know the answer. Short of tracking down the Dean of Admissions, I'm not sure who else I can ask at CSUF.
