Hi everyone, I was hoping to get some advice from you all.
A little about me: I spent 2 years in the BA theatre arts program at the University of Arizona, auditioned for the BFA program 3 times and never made it. I’m taking the 2015-16 school year off to get residency in CA before starting school again. Im more of a classical voice that musical theatre, but taking lessons to change that. Not the best dancer in the world, but I’m working on that too. I’m hoping to stay in the UC or CSU system, but am utterly lost with the amount of schools in the system! I have a few requirements for what I want, but I would love to hear first hand about the experiences of the students at any of these schools.
Though I would like a BFA program, I still want to look at BA programs with emphases in Acting or Musical Theatre, were the BA students can still perform in shows at the school (main reason I decided to leave U of A, BA students only had small performance opportunities). I also want to be about to take acting/performance classes each year (at U of A, BA students could only take Acting I and II).
I already know I will be applying to UC Irvine, CSU Chico and CSU Fullerton, but would love to hear from students at any of the other UC/CSU schools and get to know the programs they each offer. It’s hard to know which school is best for you when they all claim to be the best!
Thanks in advance!
CSUF is a cut program so be careful. Take a look at CSU Pomona’s catalogue of classes. This was one of my daughter’s choices last year. They have an acting tract that looks pretty good. Also CSUN has a good program I am told.
