Transfer to Harvard

Hi. I am an undergraduate student in Minnesota and I was wondering if I have a chance if I have any chance at all of transfering to Harvard.

Well, my high school grades were quite bad. I graduated with a 2.8 GPA, got a 26 on the ACT and an 1800 on the SAT. I took all honors and AP classes in high school, but my grades suffered not because I was unintelligent but because of my family life and health.
I suffered from severe depression throughout my high school carreer due to years of suffering from abusive family members, and developing the symptoms of junvenile parkinsonism. On top of all that i also had to deal with flashbacks of sexual abuse that happened as a child.

However, I mangaed to change my life around after I graduated from high school. Now, in college, I have a 4.0 GPA and am triple majoring in Pre-Law, Political Science, and Music Composition. I am also involved in Mock Trial at the college I attend (I am an attorney in it.) In college I several extra curricular activities. I am in the choir, band, and orchestra in the college that I am in as well as Model UN and several other things.

Here are a few other things about me. I am an aviod composer of classical music and have won several compositon contests. In high school I did Mock Trial and Speech Team, both of which i was very succesful in. For Mock Trial, my team progresses to the state tournament two years in a row. For speech team I joined the National Forensics League, i participated in twenty tournaments over two years and got first place in most of them, including getting first place at the minnesota section tournament in my junior year and 2nd place in my senior year and advancing to the state tournament both my junior and senior years. in high school I was part of the senior class comittee, secretary of the world cultures club, an active member of band, marching band, and choir. I was also a peer leader- this is like being a prefect in a British school. I was also the vice president of the chapter of the Junior State of America at my school.

Also, I was born in Uganda and moved to America as a child. I am fluent in English, Swahili, and another tribal language which is my mothertounge, and I am semi fluent in French. One summer ago I volunteered at an orphanage in Kenya.

I am planning to do a college internship program they have at the senate here in Minnesota and a similar one that they have for the house of representatives in Minnesota as well. I am in the process of writing a book.

So now, I was wondering, do I have a change of transfering into Harvard, Yale, University of Chicago, Cornell, or Colombia or NYU for my sophmore year or junior year of college (right now I am finishing up my freshman year). Is there anything else I can do to increas my chances of getting in as a transfer?

what school do you currently attend?

dont worry about that. but it is just a small private college in Minnesota

it depends for the ivies…you definitely did well in college, so transfer as a junior (:
also, you’ll want to do something to make you stand out-go to your hometown, create a school for the poor, and really emphasize your passions! If you’re into science, start a research project with the help of a prof! English/classics, I’m not really sure what to do non-academically to stand out, maybe put on a charity literary talent show or classic play reenacting the illiad or the odyssey!
remember, the ivies will be there for grad school-but I say you have an excellent chance at most of these schools if you choose to set yourself apart from the rest of The bad hs gpa, but awesome college gpa transfer group!
