Transfer to ILR

Hey, I just wanted to know what type of GPA do you need to transfer in?

Should I apply after Freshman or Sophmore year?

i have a 3.7 and i was just accepted as a transfer to ILR (i just found out about an hour ago, actually!)

you'll need the grades. I'm currently a freshmen at Onondaga Community College, but with the sheer number of courses i've taken this year (and will be taking throughout the summer) i'll technically be a junior at cornell. If your high school grades are strong, you should be good transfering whenever you want. Make sure you attend transfer day in the fall!! It's a wonderful look into the school, and they do care about your interest in the school.

i interviewed with Mary Van Arsdale, the dirrector of admissions at ILR, and she said that the grades are the most important aspect of the application. It doesnt matter what you've done outside of school, w/o the grades you wont be admitted. Then, other stuff comes into play, she seemed to focus in on the courses i've taken and which of those courses I have enjoyed most.

if you have any more questions, post 'em and we'll try to answer

Cheers!

I had a 3.6 at Tulane University in New Orleans. Another important aspect is what classes you have taken and the grades in those classes. I would recommend Micro and Macro economics along with a prob&stat class so that once you do hopefully transfer you wont be so far behind everyone else. However they understand that as a Freshman you must fulfill a bunch of other requirements at your school. I think those three classes are a must though.

well, i'm not so sure about the stats classes anymore. I was going to take them this semester, but they wouldn't have transfered ... i guess the stats classes at ILR are now 4 credit hours each. Things are constantly changing in the school. But, def. work to line up your classes. Call or e-mail Laura Lewis at ILR. She worked with me to get my classes lined up (cornell even recommends getting in touch with them).

Also, when i talked to somebody (a student) in admissions in the fall, they said the minimum gpa to be considered for admission is a 3.3. That doesnt mean if you have a 3.3, you're in, but rather the majority of students who are admitted have at least a B+ average.

Thank you.

hey gopackgo, congrats on your acceptance again. Are you a NY residence? Are you living on campus?

hey all,

im transferring into ILR from Brandeis. im gonna be living in the transfer center...anybody know anything about that?

...and <gomestar> im a NY resident</gomestar>

cool, what part of NY are you from? I applied to live in the transfer center as well. I figure it'll be the easiest way to make new friends! There's alot of information about the transfer center on the Cornell website, it's worth checking out. See you in the fall!

im from brooklyn. i checked out the site, lot of good stuff~~thanks. look foward to meeting everyone. have a good summer.
