Transfer to Mcgill, Help needed!

hello all...I am beginning my freshman year at a university in america. Im going there by circumstance and its not the best of schools... I want to transfer to mcgill next year and was wondering if anyone can give me any help on how to go about doing that...they say admission is rolling, so can I just apply whenever?

Also, I am a bio major hoping to fulfill premed reqs...I read that in order to transfer into a science department, I need a year of integral/differential calc....my courses for the semester are philosophy, chemistry, english, and econ... do all transfers really need to have taken a year of calc in college??

Any help would be greatly appreciated...I want to be on top of things so I can make this happen by next year.

My comments are all based on transfer apps to McGill a couple of years ago, so check to see if anything has changed.

First, be sure to note McGill's application deadline for Part 1. It is VERY early, something like 12/1. It is very quick - all just a few factual items done online.

In fact, their whole application is a kind of "just the facts, ma'am", done online, no essays or recs (if I recall correctly).

Yes, it is rolling... so apply whenever the application is available. They seemed to be a little slow in processing it all, so you may not get as quick a reply as you expect, but they did come through in the end ;).

For the calc question, I think you will need to call the McGill Admissions office. But my recommendation would be that you change one of your humanities/socsci courses to calculus. Even if it wouldn't nix your transfer, it might make it harder for you to get into certain science courses where that might be a prereq (disclaimer: I'm more familiar with Engineering where the calculus is a sine qua non; maybe not so much for Bio major/pre-med). But check on that.
