Transfer to MSU? Chances/Experiences?

Hello, everyone!

I decided to post this question on this website, since this forum has given me valuable insight before as a non-member. While I do realize that any advice given here is not law, it’s nice to release any concerns, keep a cool head, and be realistic!

A little background on me: I was studying at a CC full-time until Sep 2018, and I’m working full-time. Since Sep 2018, I have completed all but one of my requirements for transfer; as of now, I’m studying to complete my CLEP exam for MSU’s Math requirement. For the Spring/Summer, I will also take more classes at the CC. On top of that, I do volunteer work.

I currently have a 3.8 GPA, and have 24 credits … which is what is making me nervous, because when I spoke with my admissions counselor via e-mail, he said that I will be required to submit my high school transcript. In high school, I didn’t do well and I’m scared that the work I’ve put in these past 2 years won’t matter because of my performance in high school, even though my counselor told me that it won’t be used against me. I’m not sure what to do.

Now, before anyone comes in and tells me, “You should have already submitted your transfer application by now!”: Yes, I know! And I shouldn’t have delayed my application so much but I have had health, financial, and familial reasons keep me busy and occupied. I also feel very nervous in regards to my CLEP exam, but I will try my best to subdue any uncertainty and get it done in the next 2 weeks.

Realistically, what are my chances of getting accepted into MSU for Fall 2019 if I submit my application with only 24 credits, with my CLEP results and summer classes pending? My counselor told me that based on time, if I submit my application soon, I should be able to get accepted for Fall 2019 if I fit the requirements. If I am not able to get in until Winter 2020, it won’t be the worst thing, either, since there’s still much I need to do, but I’d prefer Fall 2019.

Does anyone else have any experiences as a transfer student who did poorly in high school and was able to get accepted when their high school transcript was required for transfer? I’d love to here everyones’ experiences!

Much love,
