I was wondering if anyone can help me.
I am a transfer student at Eastern Michigan right now. Im aware that the average G.P.A for transfer students at Michigan State University is a 3.0.

I went to Saginaw Valley State University my first year and got a 2.5 not my best at all. Over the spring and summer I took algebra where I recieved a B (3.0).
I then transferred to Eastern to be closer home, I am halfway through my 2nd year where I hope to end with a 3.0. After this fall semester I plan to apply MSU so I can recieve a decision around April sometime.
I also considered to strengthen my application with some letters of recommedation.

Although I have taken rigorous courses my GPA is still questionable, with this I am wondering how my chances are with acceptance into MSU??

How strong will your GPA be after this semester? Like how are you doing right now because the semester is almost over so you should have a pretty good idea what you’ll end up with. That’s really what matters. Also, how many credits will you have?

I have all B’s and a C but I am positive I can raise my C to a B before the semester and hopefully end with a 3.0 or higher. After the school year in April I will have about 47 or 48 credits.

Do what you can to also try to raise one or if possible two of those Bs into the A range. Because you had a 2.5 at Saginaw, you will need to try to do quite a bit better at Eastern to get that GPA up to at least close to 3.0. The amount of credits you have is good, that shouldn’t be a problem. I think you’ll have a legitimate chance if you can average around a 3.3 this semester. Even though I hate State, best of luck and I hope you get in.

Well if your heart is set on MSU head on over … but for the best degree you should really conceder University of Michigan. Its a lot tougher to get into but its worth it when you do … and once your graduated.

If I had a choice I would love to go to UM, its close to home and I love it but im not sure I would even have the slightest chance. I know it would be perfect because I am a finance and economics major so I know I would get the best degree there. But I do wanna go to state bad. Hopefully I can get in.

Hey , all i can say is “who knows”. honestly. I can safely tell you i would never have a shot in hell to get into UMich, but i applied anyway. i love the school and always have. Just send in an app for both schools please, you can always tell yourself you did everything you could have done for UMich.
… Im still waiting for the decision from UMich. i will keep you posted and let you know if i get in, like i said, you never know.

Okay, I contacted the office of admissions and I’m meeting with a counselor in a week. After hearing that you applied im thinking I might as well too, at least have my options open. I will let you know what happens and best of luck to you.
