Transfer to NETS?

Hey all!

I'm planning on applying to Penn this year as a chemical engineering major. However, I've recently learned about NETS, and combined with the programming languages I've learned this summer, can really see myself pursuing that major instead. The problem is, all my research experiences, clubs, and awards have to do with chemistry, as that was the career I thought I would undertake. If I apply to NETS as a freshman, I'm afraid my application won't make sense to the adcoms, as I really don't have any experience in that field. Is it possible to, after getting in as a chemE major, transferring to NETS? If so, how difficult is the process?

Thanks again!

This page should answer your questions, including about transferring into NETS after starting at Penn:

For what it’s worth, I’d recommend applying to the program that truly interests you–explaining any recent discovery of that interest–rather than trying to pretend you’re still interested in something else just to gain admission to Penn. Sincerity and authentic enthusiasm should be the goal in essays and interviews.
