I'm going to start my second year at RIT and I am thinking about transferring to Northeastern University in Boston. I would like to major in Industrial engineering or business.

Does anybody know how hard/easy it is to transfer into Northeastern? I have a 3.87 GPA at RIT.

I have not taken Calculus yet.

I want to transfer because there is more of a social life at Northeastern and more to do.

Hey nmt6789, I worked on transferring to Northeastern all of last year and I found it fairly easy. They were very straight forward in what they wanted and needed you to do. I think with your GPA you'd have a pretty good chance because I had about a 3.3 from University of Dayton and lots of extra curricular's including the UD Mens Rowing Team.

The reason I was turned off to the school was the fact that on campus housing is not guaranteed and there was a good chance I would have had no where to live, as well as how expensive living in Boston would have been.

I had a 3.94 at the time of application and got a $10,000 scholarship (merit - I wasn't applying for financial aid)...I think you're as good as in.

You should have no problem being accepted. I was accepted as a transfer with a 3.34 college gpa.

Also, housing shouldn't really be a problem. I didn't apply for on campus housing until late July and apparently I ended up with the nicest housing they have to offer.

You have a very good chance of being accepted- almost 100%. I got in as a transfer with a lower GPA and, I'm assuming, much worse high school stats.

Change of major can be either hard or easy for Northeastern. If your doing an in college transfer (from psychology to economics for example) than it should not be a big deal. However, it is tough to transfer from CAS to CBA. In fact, at my orientation, they said to not even try because all the spots are filled.

Would I have a shot at getting into the college of engineering? I looked at the "preferred" prerequisites and I don't have most of them but; they are "PREFERRED." Not required. Should I apply to the college of arts and sciences and then try to switch?

If I were you, I'd apply for the college of engineering. It is pretty hard to switch into that particular college i've heard. put college of arts and sciences as your second choice. i know that a bunch of students in my orientation group wanted to be in the business school but didn't get in but they were accepted in college of arts and sciences as an econ major.

Internal transfer into the College of business is really hard.. There's a relatively long waitlist so keep that in mind.. I'm currently at NU majoring in Industrial Engineering and was considering transferring to business in my sophomore year.. The lady said that the BSIB program was out of question but the BSBA program was an option provided I got in! In terms of internal transfer , from what I've heard, College of Business > College of Engeering > Humanities with the CBA being hardest to transfer into.

I want to transfer there from bridgewater state university and I have a 3.45.
I have some extra curricular activities under my belt including a philosophy tutor here at BSU and some community service. Any idea what my chances are?

hey jai6638 why did you transfer out of industrial engineering, i am transfering over in the fall unless USC accepets me, but any particular reasons why you left IE?
